The CDP 1 Story

The Concept Series creates an exciting new presence to the already powerful line of Cary Audio Design products. The following story reveals thoughts behind the creation of the player and highlights key features that make it a superb product at its price point. The understated, attractive black and silver aluminum front panel allows the player and its matching amp to integrate with any audio system décor.

We have created our own advanced DSP 300 circuitry for the CD 303/300 and the new Concept Series CDP 1 CD player. We also offer DSP based decoding of the HDCD CD disk encoding process for great playback of your favorite HDCD disks.

Cary Audio Design has taken advantage of the advanced circuit and digital drive designs made available in the last few years. We have found them to be quite superior to previous CD digital drive designs offered to us in the past. We have been making CD players with our custom design control and drive circuits since 2000 and have now entered into our 3rd generation of players. Our CD players have won prestigious design awards, ‘Best Buy’ ratings, earned ‘Class A’ review ratings and ‘2005 Product of the Year’ awards.

Being an American company, we chose to create our high performance DSP section for the Concept Series CDP 1 with ‘state of the art’ DSP chips from Texas Instruments. The Concept CDP 1 has a 48 bit solid state DSP buffer stage to eliminate digital jitter from the signal before sending it to the 24 bit/192 kHz BURR BROWN 1792u DAC. We believe they are sonically the best available.

  • The Concept Series CDP 1 is directly derived from the CD 303/300 CD player, which was awarded ‘Product of the Year’ from Electronic House magazine in September 2005.

  • It has an industrial grade MULTI SPEED DVD CD ROM DRIVE with superior error correction.

  • CDP 1 has a 48 BIT DSP BUFFER STAGE to eliminate digital jitter from the signal before sending it to the 24 bit/192 kHz BURR BROWN 1792u DAC.

  • CLASS A audio circuit design with fully regulated power supplies.

  • 48 BIT SOLID STATE MEMORY in the CDP 1 allows us to process the signal or to read it again if errors are detected prior to sending it to the DAC.

  • The heavy duty STEEL CHASSIS includes a steel inner drive isolation tunnel for noise shielding for the digital, the analog and the digital drive circuits.

  • The CDP 1 has Coaxial digital and variable analog outputs.
