Every sound system is unique in its own way. Audiophiles try countless configurations to come up with the "killer" system of their dreams. We tweak, and tune and experiment to get the most out of the sources to get the best possible reproduction of music we can. Well, we want to see what your system looks like and hear where your Cary Audio products fit in. It doesn't have to be an exclusively all Cary system, but that wouldn't hurt either. So get out your camera, set the lights and get cracking. Here is your chance to show off the rig you have worked so hard on, and to tell others what makes it so special. This month we are looking at the 2 channel system from Patrick Pack, and boy, is this a system! Patrick has quite the collection of Cary Audio Design amps including the monster 1610 monoblocks we made a few years ago. Just to give you an idea how big the 1610 output tube is, look at the picture below. Read on to learn more about this impressive system. Walking into a high-end store in my early 20s, I saw these bizarre amps with huge transformers and 3 tubes. Upon discovering the amps cost $8000 a pair and only put out 50 watts, I shook my head and wondered who in their right mind would buy such a product. The salesman noticed the look of dismay, asked me to sit for a second, and proceeded to play "Beautiful Love" off of Shirley Horn's You Won't Forget Me. Within 30 seconds I was hooked. Since that fateful day, I have owned 1 pair of 805Bs, 2 pairs of 805Cs, and 2 pairs of 805AEs along with several other Cary amps, preamps, and CD players. In addition to falling in love with the Cary sound, I also enjoy the wonderful people at Cary Audio. I always smile when I speak to Chloe on the phone and Billy Wright is without a doubt one of the better people I have met in my 13 plus years of high-end audio. - Patrick Pack
